The first home of this site was a promo page for The Chosen before it was published in 2011. I never did anything else with it. I have been using Facebook a lot since then to keep my fans up to date. Unfortunately Facebook really has a limited reach, moreso now that the platform screens who sees what according to frequency of visits and whether a content creator pays to promote. So I am abandoning the old site, and my Wordpress blog. I will leave a forwarding address on the old blog so folks can find their way here.
This marks a new phase in my creative life. When my role in The Mirror's Revenge shifted from playwright to lyricist to record producer, I realized the "work" of being creative is a matter of effort, not form. As Peter Beagle said so succinctly, "You show up for work." I should have seen this last year when I took a break from writing Isis Rising and wrote Mermaid Steel. The drastic transition of genre from horror thriller to fantasy romance was about as difficult as slipping into a warm bath. Inspiration is rare enough that it is worth pursuing whatever path it leads you down.
Which leads me to the biggest change. My old publisher, Damnation Books, was recently bought by an upstart company called Caliburn Press. Caliburn has previously published fetish erotica and layman guides to pagan religions. They legitimately want to become a broader genre publisher, and I wish them well. But with 23 four and five star reviews on Amazon, and a loyal fan base of about 200, and the third and most spectacular conclusion to a trilogy sitting in the incubator, I think I can safely reach for the brass ring. I let my foot off the publicity pedal these last couple of years, and my sales have not surprisingly dropped to none. So I'm not losing anything. I am therefore going to decline Caliburn's offer, and let The Chosen and Daughter Cell go out of print until I finish Isis Rising. This will also give me an incentive to get it done sooner. With the books out of print and the rights all back to me, I will then sell the completed trilogy to a full service publisher. Wish me luck!
